Fostering unorganized sport to sustain adolescent participation: empirical evidence from two European countries

Sport participation in adolescence helps to reach the recommended levels of physical activity and predicts during adulthood. Few cross-cultural studies compare contexts sport their relation with rates. In Europe, Austria France are two countries that differ economic situation policy structure. The main objective this study was rates (unorganized/organized sport) France, by sex SES. Two data collections were conducted spring 2015 among high-school students. Logistic regressions used Austrian French students sex, SES context participation. adolescents had higher than but less likely participate organized compared (OR = 0.64, 95% CI 0.52–0.78). more unorganized 3.46, 2.75–4.36). large difference between also caused practice low-SES adolescents, especially girls. This indicates that, next sport, can help enhance adolescent balance existing social gender inequalities.
